Bow in 2012- Adult classes resume Monday 16 January 6.15pm. Childrens classes resume Thursday, 9th February, same timetable as 2011.
Hi there one and all, the end of the year is coming on like a runaway express train, before you know it we will be eating too much, singing christmas carols and sitting at the beach dreaming up new ideas about life, the universe and everything. As we look back on the year just gone we can reflect on some of our achievements, the Little Dragons Class has grown. These young guys are getting better each class and are all progressing well and having lots of fun along the way. At this point we would like to give a big shout out to those parents (and kids) who help out with putting out the matts at the beginning of each class, It is these type of actions that the kids see and realize that this is the way people should behave towards each other, we only hope that we can further instill these type of values in all our students. We have a strong group of students who make up the core of the Kids Class, these students will make fantastic Black Belts one day, as long as they remember the principles that make up a Black Belt. Modesty, Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self Control and Courage. We are extremely lucky that most of the students have these qualities in abundance as well as many other admirable qualities. I would especially like to say thanks to the Tahu brothers who unselfishly turn up early to help out with the Little Dragon Class, These two boys are a fine example to all students. The Teen class is a mixed bunch with students still training through the Rising Dragon syllabus as well as those working through the Kenpo 5.0 system. It is fantastic to see these young people here taking positive action to enhance their lives. becoming a blackbelt in Martial arts is something that is recognized world wide as a significant achievement and if you guys stick at it the rewards will manifest in many different ways. Everyone in the adult class is progressing nicely, again with a mixture of the 5.0 syllabus as well as the Rising Dragon Rising Dragon syllabus. I think all the students have enjoyed the ground fighting and grappling that we have been doing and we will consolidate this in the new year. Special mention to Mr Anil Natali who is helped smooth the way for the school by organising that we are able to have the hall consistently as well as making sure we have the bbq available and all the things that go with events readily on hand. We would like to say how proud we are of the students who went to Australia to represent Rising Dragon and two of our students, Amelia Blamey and Klyn Banatao, who were part of the New Zealand team, at the Oceania Championships, and a really big thanks to the parents and supporters who put in the time, money and effort to make the trip possible for these competitors. It was a great team effort by the entire contingent. All competitors at Oceania achieved placings and awards. Special mention to Miss Amelia Blamey who won 3 golds and 1 silver at this years event. During the year we had the honour of promoting a further 4 students through to Black Belt. As instructors it is a very real pleasure to see these young people come through and not only achieve the rank of Black Belt, but show in class their skill level and become great role models for students to follow. The quality of our Black Belts is outstanding. Their technical skill and ability is something we should be utilising more. In 2012 they will be working towards their instructor levels. These students will take a more active leadership role. The senior Black Belts will also be testing through to 2nd Degree levels. As you know at the end of the year we have a break from training, time to relax and recharge the batteries for next year. We will have our final class and bow out on Sunday the 18th of December, 9.30am-12.30pm (approx). We will be running a very informal class - more demonstration than competition, forms, sets and self defence as well as games and a BBQ. If adults could please bring a salad that would be great. If you want something else to cook on the Barbie then please feel free. We appreciate that everyone is busy this time of year, could you just rsvp to Annette so we can organise the event and cater correctly. Bow in 2012- Adult classes resume Monday 16 January 6.15pm.
